Here is a second version of the matrix study.
In this attempt I took two different portions of the hood bumper area and played with reversing the direction of the curve.

These new studies are very compelling; the most successful image for me is the third from the bottom. Your intention is clear from this perspective and new emergent relationships from the deformation are best described. The sinuous lines apparent in the translation that occur from left to right are interesting. You should definitely continue with perhaps another row to form a field condition, to see if any new relationships surface.
